American Vegetable Grower annually picks the top 100 farms in the nation. They then break it down into the 25 top regional farms. In the Northeast, three farms relying on Arctic Refrigeration and our storages ranked in the top 20! Torrey Farms (Elba, NY) was ranked 14th in the Northeast, My-T-Acres (Batavia, NY) was ranked 16th in the Northeast, and Turek farms (Kings Ferry, NY) was ranked 20th in the Northeast. In the fall of 2009, local general contractor Whitney East broke ground on a new home project on Saile Drive in Batavia, NY. A large part of this nearly 4,000 sq. ft. home is the geo-thermal heating & cooling system. Designed and currently being installed by Arctic Refrigeration. This project marks one of the first Geo-thermal homes in Genesee County, and is hopefully the first of many by Arctic Refrigeration, according to Jonathan Mager, 3rd generation project coordinator with Arctic. "Geo-thermal is really taking off around the country and we are really excited for its future here in western NY", says Mager. Geo-thermal in its simplest fomr is taking heating or cooling from the ground & transferring into the house. Seemingly impossible, geo-systems can achieve a 300 to 400% efficiency rating (They deliver 300 - 400% more energy into the home than the energy used to operate the system). These systems are very green and very cool.
